Faithfully Catholic
Authentically Montessori

Saint Joseph Montessori Children's House was founded in 2016 by two Montessori educators and young mothers who shared a vision of providing an authentic Montessori education rooted in the dignity of the child and supportive of family life. Drawing on their experience in the classroom, they sought to create a learning environment that reflected the order, beauty, and joy of the Montessori method while complementing the essential role of parents as their children's first educators.

Today, the Saint Joseph Montessori Children's House serves as the Montessori early childhood program (ages 3-5) of Saint Thomas More Academy, preparing young children with the independence, wonder, concentration, and love of learning that form a natural foundation for the intellectual and spiritual formation of a Catholic classical education.
Inspired by the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori and the example of its patron, St. Joseph, the school continues to partner with families in nurturing the whole child and laying the groundwork for a lifetime of faith, virtue, and academic excellence.

The Montessori Classroom

The Saint Joseph Montessori Children's House provides a peaceful, beautiful, and thoughtfully prepared environment for children ages three to six. It's sun-filled classroom and enclosed courtyard garden invite exploration, concentration, and joyful discovery while supporting each child's natural development.

Following the Montessori three-year cycle, children learn in a mixed-age classroom where they progress at their own pace under the guidance of trained Montessori educators. The prepared environment includes five interconnected areas of learning—Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Studies—allowing each child to develop independence, confidence, and a strong academic foundation according to his or her unique readiness.

Faith and character formation are woven throughout the school day. Through the Atrium and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, children encounter Christ in a personal and meaningful way, while the daily practice of grace and courtesy fosters respect for self, others, and the world around them. Together, these experiences cultivate a lifelong love of learning, virtue, and wonder.
